Cemex Colombia announced that 90% of the water needed for cement production at its Santa Rosa plant will come from non-freshwater sources, setting a benchmark for water management in the country.

The plant maintains its manufacturing process using water sources, including rainwater, and recycling systems and does not discharge any water.

The plant’s water management verification protocol was developed in collaboration with Environmental Resources Management (ERM), the world’s largest sustainability consulting firm. Cemex’s efforts to preserve this resource are part of its “Future in Action” program, which focuses on achieving sustainable excellence through climate action, circular economy and natural resource management, with the main objective of becoming a carbon neutral company.2 Companies by 2050.
