In the last six days, six pedestrians have been killed by cars in the St. Louis area

ST. LOUIS, Missouri (First Alert 4) – Authorities in St. Louis, St. Louis County and St. Charles County are investigating fatal vehicle and pedestrian crashes.

MONDAY

Police are investigating after a person was struck and killed overnight on Interstate 70 in St. Peters.

According to MoDOT, the accident occurred on I-70 eastbound near Mid Rivers Mall. Four lanes had to be closed, but all are currently open. The Missouri State Highway Patrol had officers on scene investigating the accident after a tractor-trailer struck a pedestrian.

MSHP identified the victim as 23-year-old Conner R. Lipp of Winfield. A preliminary accident report said a man was driving a Freightliner truck while Lipp was walking in the roadway. It said the truck driver swerved to the left to avoid a collision but still struck the pedestrian.

Lipp was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:04 a.m.

SATURDAY

SLMPD responded to a pedestrian crash at the intersection of Natural Bridge and Belt at approximately 5:20 a.m. on August 24.

A preliminary investigation indicates that an unidentified man was crossing the Natural Bridge (not in a crosswalk) when he was struck by a white Hyundai SUV.

The impact threw the pedestrian to the southeast corner of the intersection.

The Hyundai SUV continued west on Natural Bridge and left the scene of the accident.

According to police, the man died the same day.

FRIDAY

A woman was killed Friday in western St. Louis County when she was hit by a car.

According to St. Louis County police, their West County Precinct was called to Meramec Station Road near Crescent Avenue shortly before 10:30 p.m. Friday for a report of a pedestrian being struck.

The woman, identified by police as 31-year-old Julisa Cannon of Valley Park, was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.

According to the police report, Cannon was crossing Meramec Station Road when she was struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene.

THURSDAY

A man was killed when he was struck by a semi-trailer truck overnight on Interstate 55 in St. Louis County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 12:40 a.m. on I-55 at Bayless Avenue. Antonio Green, 45, was standing in the roadway when a semi-truck struck him. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries, where he was pronounced dead.

WEDNESDAY

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, one person died on westbound I-70 near Branch Wednesday morning.

Police identified the victim as 65-year-old Joe Polk. He was traveling westbound on I-70 and crossed the westbound lanes toward the express lanes.

A Dodge camper van hit him as he was walking on the highway. After the first impact, two more vehicles hit him. All three drivers remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with the police.

Emergency services declared him dead at the scene of the accident. Police said it was unclear why the man was walking on the highway.

According to authorities, the accident occurred shortly before 6 a.m.

TUESDAY

According to St. Louis County police, officers responded to a 911 call about a person who had been hit by a car in Jennings Tuesday morning.
