The Ballet Theatre of Maryland opens the season on September 14 with “Ballet in the Garden”
Before Ballet Theatre of Maryland begins performances at Maryland Hall for the Arts, the company opens its season on September 14 with “Ballet in the Garden” at the historic Hammond Harwood House.th at 5pm. This unique performance features smaller classical works in an enchanting garden setting and includes a complimentary glass of wine.
Artistic director Nicole Kelsch says: “Ballet in the garden at Hammond Harwood House is an intimate performance that many audiences look forward to each year. The natural beauty of the gardens enhances the elegance of classical dance while bringing our guests up close and personal with the dancers. This year it is our pleasure to present many well-known tunes by audience-favorite composers such as Gershwin, Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky. We hope you will come along to this hidden gem of a performance.”
This year’s Ballet in the Garden will feature several works by Roman Mykyta, including pas de deux excerpts from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, An American in Paris, And Capriccio SpanishIn addition, works by the company’s dancers Lindsey Bell and Isaac Martinez as well as sections from classical ballets will be presented. The Bayadere And Swan Lake.
In addition to this VIP event, the public will find BTM throughout the community this fall: with Macbeth at the Maryland Renaissance Festival from August 31 to September 2, and with other excerpts at the Professional Dance Collaborative of Maryland’s Fall Mixer on September 17, Ballet on the Beach in Ocean City on September 21, and Art in the Park in Quiet Waters on October 13.
