Renton seeks proposals for World Cup-inspired downtown space
From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on August 27, residents are encouraged to share their opinions on the World Cup Legacy Square project.
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup coming to Seattle, the City of Renton is already preparing and is excited to hear what community members and residents want from the design of World Cup Legacy Square.
Described as a “visionary project aimed at creating a dynamic and inclusive focal point in Renton’s downtown,” the city invites Renton residents to attend a Square Talk event on Tuesday, August 27, at the gravel plaza at South Third Street and Logan Avenue South to provide suggestions on what Legacy Square could be and where it should be located.
Led by the city’s Department of Community and Economic Development, the idea behind Legacy Square is to “harness the energy and passion of the world’s greatest sporting event, the 2026 FIFA World Cup, coming to Seattle for its inaugural edition.”
According to the City of Renton’s weekly newsletter, Legacy Square “will continue to be a vibrant place for broadcasting sporting events, art, gaming, event space and more.”
The Square Talk event will take place on August 27th during the Renton Farmers Market from 4 – 7 p.m.
