“Many failures overlooked”

Leading Republicans are criticizing Vice President Kamala Harris for admitting that she was “the last person in the room” when President Biden made the decision to abruptly withdraw all U.S. troops from Afghanistan.

The criticism comes on the anniversary of the deadly suicide attack at Abbey Gate, outside Hamid Karazai International Airport in Kabul, which ultimately led to the deaths of 13 US soldiers and injuries to others.

Harris’ comments about her involvement in the decision to evacuate the war-torn region came before the tragic attack, during an April 2021 interview with Dana Bash from CNN“He just made a really big decision – Afghanistan. Were you the last person in the room?” Bash Harris asked. “Yes,” she replied, adding that she was “pleased” with the president’s decision and admired his courage in making that decision.

This year marks the third anniversary of the tragic event, and some Republicans did not hold back in their criticism of the now Democratic presidential candidate’s comments, with some arguing that they showed Harris’ involvement in the disastrous decision.…Read more
