UConn Football is the first school to include NIL Collective as an on-field logo sponsor
While rumors about UConn’s entry into the Big 12 continues to falter, and many discussing the move are asking one question: Are the Huskies serious about football?
The answer seems to be yes, because on Monday the Huskies became the first college football team to place their NIL Collective logo on the football field.
The collective, UConn’s Storrs Central, in conjunction with UConn Football, has signed a one-year field partnership agreement with the Bleeding Blue For Good NIL collective.
“In the age of NIL, it has never been more important to proactively promote unique opportunities for our student-athletes,” UConn AD David Benedict said Pete Nakos of On3. “Bleeding Blue for Good and Storrs Central are great partners as we journey through the ever-changing landscape of college sports.”
UConn has made some big headlines over the past 72 hours as reports emerged that Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark is allegedly meeting with Big 12 ADs and chancellors to pitch the Huskies as a major asset to the league.
While the idea of UConn joining the Big 12 as part of a realignment has drawn its fair share of skeptics, the league’s plans to add UConn football in 2031 and all other sports in 2026 have helped silence some doubters.
The reports should come as no surprise, as Yorkmark continues to show interest in separating basketball and football in television negotiations in hopes of adding more value to the Big 12 product.
