ZAU 1.3 update with new difficulty levels and more
Tales of Kenzera: ZAU will soon go live on Switch with a new version update 1.3, which features new difficulty levels.
Story will be the new easiest option in the game. On the other end of the spectrum, however, Brutal will be a major challenge. Note that in addition to these new difficulty levels, the game will receive other additions, improvements, and fixes, such as the option to skip chases after a certain number of attempts.
The complete run down of the update is as follows:
Tales of Kenzera: ZAU 1.3 update patch notes
- Added two new difficulty levels in addition to relaxed, balanced and sophisticated.
- Story is even more forgiving in combat than Relaxed, offering additional traversal support and restoring full health upon death at each checkpoint.
- Brutal goes a step beyond Challenging and is tailored to those who want to get a strong sense of the enormity of Zau’s task. Brutal emphasizes sprinting, effective use of skills and abilities, and memorizing enemy attack patterns
- Adapted hazards such as Insta-Kill Spikeswhich reduces collisions somewhat, making them more fun and fair
- Added was the Option to skip tracking sequences after a set number of attempts, which depends on the difficulty level chosen by the player.
- Improved the Fog of War on the mapmaking it easier for collectors to identify areas where content may have been overlooked
- Fixed an issue where players were not immediately recognizing ZAU’s difficulty selector. Players will now be prompted to select their difficulty when starting a new game.
- The difficulty level selected has been tied to the player’s save space when playing with multiple saves or sharing the game with others.
- Hints, tips and reminders added to the pause menu
- Added a pop-up tutorial for the Kikiyaon Heart encounter
Other bug fixes
- Fixed an issue where the “I am the Sun” achievement was not awarded when enemies were killed by Supernova Ignition
- Fixed an issue that caused Zau to get stuck in the pre-charge animation after combining sprint, double jump, and charge.
- Fixed an issue where players could not use Bamba’s Stone on GaGorib while he was performing Body Slam.
- Fixed an issue where spent sprint and double jump charges were being used
- Other minor bug fixes
Gameplay changes during chases
You’ve told us time and time again that you wanted an option to skip chases in ZAU, so we added it! Depending on the difficulty level you choose, a Yumboe will appear after a certain number of attempts and you can skip it if you’re having trouble. The criteria for when the Yumboe will appear are:
- Story: The player always has the opportunity
- Relaxed: Appears after a total of 3 deaths
- Balanced: Appears after a total of 5 deaths
- Challenging: Appears after a total of 10 deaths
- Brutal: The player never has the opportunity
A Yumboe stays in place once it has spawned, so if you play on Story difficulty and then switch to Brutal difficulty, it will still be there for you.
It’s worth noting that deaths are split across all parts of the chase, so if you die three times in the first part of a chase and twice in the second part of a chase, the Yumboe will appear for players on Balanced difficulty.
When the player changes the difficulty level, the game does not reset the player’s death count.
The version 1.3 update for Tales of Kenzera: ZAU will be released on Switch “soon.” You can find more information about the game here: Here.
