OOCL celebrates the christening of its last newbuild of the 24,188 TEU series
Orient Overseas Container Line Co., Ltd. (“OOCL”) today celebrated the christening of the company’s twelfth 24,188 TEU newbuild at a ceremony held at the Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (NACKS) shipyard. The new vessel, named “OOCL Portugal”, is the last in the environmentally friendly 24,188 TEU megaship series.
OOCL invited Laura Liang Aron, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Commercial Office in Shanghai, to attend the christening of the new vessel, and Ni Zhao, Regional Manager (Shanghai) of the Hong Kong Shipping Registry, as the guest of honour. The ceremony was successfully concluded in the presence of numerous honoured guests, customers and business partners.
Michael Xu, Director and Executive Committee Member of OOCL, said at the ceremony: “The christening of our last new 24,188 TEU vessel marks an important milestone in OOCL’s development.
