Six arrested for alleged gang rape of 16-year-old girl in Jhapa « Khabarhub
BIRTAMOD: Six people were arrested for the alleged gang rape of a 16-year-old girl. The attacks took place in different locations on the same night.
Those arrested include 19-year-old Anish Limbu of Arjundhara Municipality-5, 34-year-old Saroj Rai of Arjundhara-8, 25-year-old Keshav Magar, 20-year-old Sudeep Shrestha and Sujan Dangi.
The district police headquarters announced that a person involved in the incident is currently at large.
According to police, the attacks occurred on Friday night.
After the victim filed a complaint on Saturday, police arrested six people connected to the case.
Police Commissioner Milan KC said one incident on Friday evening involved three suspects and another involved four suspects.
Police have arrested six people in connection with both incidents.
Police investigations suggest that the girl was first attacked at a location in Hatiya, a new market area in Arjundhara-8, and then taken to a hotel.
The girl was invited for a walk at around 8:30 p.m. and later brought to the hotel at around 11:00 p.m.
Anish, Saroj and Keshav are said to have committed the attack in Hatiya and then taken the girl to a hotel in Arjundhara-7.
The police have identified four hotel employees, including the owner, as involved in the crime.
The victim’s condition is said to be stable. The police are preparing to file charges against those arrested and are extending the deadline for the trial of the coercion case.
