The Mandalorian & Grogu: Everything we know so far about the next Star Wars film
The Mandalorian and Grogu movie has been pretty mysterious so far, but now some footage has finally been released (more on that below) and it’s shaping up to be another entertaining Star Wars adventure featuring our favorite father-son duo.
In The Mandalorian Season 3, Mando and Baby Yoda have settled down together on Nevarro. It looked like that was the end for the space-traveling duo, but now the two are starring in their own feature film. What kind of journey they’ll be embarking on is currently unknown, but there’s some information to keep us busy while we wait for further updates.
Series creator Jon Favreau will direct the new film, while Ahsoka Creator Dave Filoni is producing alongside Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. Find out everything else you need to know about The Mandalorian & Grogu below. Here’s how!
Release date of The Mandalorian & Grogu
The film The Mandalorian & Grogu is scheduled to be released on May 22, 2026.
It will be the first new Star Wars film since The Rise of Skywalker in 2019. It will be followed by films such as Dave Filoni’s Rey film and James Mangold’s film about the origins of the Force.
The Mandalorian and Grogu trailer: When will we get one?
There is no trailer for The Mandalorian & Grogu movie yet, and since the film is still a long way from being released in theaters, it’s unlikely we’ll see one anytime soon. Instead, we can expect to see a full trailer for the film much sooner – but a teaser could potentially appear at Star Wars Celebration 2025.
At D23 2024, however, a few shots were shown to those lucky enough to attend. They showed Grogu as Din Djarin’s bounty hunter apprentice, with the little green guy hanging out with a couple of Babu Friks (aka Anzellans). It also featured the return of Razor Crest and Zeb Orrelios, and there was a snow-covered planet that could very well be Hoth.
The cast of The Mandalorian and Grogu
There are no confirmed actors for The Mandalorian & Grogu yet. Sigourney Weaver is said to be part of the cast, but this is currently unconfirmed – and it is unclear who she will play.
We can probably expect Pedro Pascal to return as Mando, but beyond that, it’s unclear who we’ll see in the film. People like Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze and Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano could make cameo appearances, as could Amy Sedaris as Peli Motto and Emily Swallow as Master-at-Arms.
Speculations about the plot of The Mandalorian and Grogu
Nothing has been revealed about the plot of The Mandalorian & Grogu yet. In the season 3 finale of The Mandalorian, Din Djarin officially adopted Baby Yoda as his own child and the duo settled down together on Nevarro. The stage seems set for more standalone adventures, but with the Ahsoka show seeing Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger return to the main galaxy, Mando & Grogu could have big fish to catch.
And although Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon was killed in the finale, there are some compelling theories that he could also return through clone-related shenanigans. That remains to be seen for now.
Will there be a fourth season of “The Mandalorian”?
It is currently unclear whether there will be a fourth season of The Mandalorian or not. Initially it was said According to reports, it will take place alongside the filmBut Another report soon raised doubts.
By newsletter from The Hollywood ReporterBefore the strikes shut down Hollywood last year, Season 4 was written and ready to air (like Jon Favreau himself said in February 2023). But when Hollywood came to a standstill, Lucasfilm focused on one movie – which puts the future of the fourth season in question.
But one of Din Djarin’s physical actors, Brendan Wayne, said in November 2023 that season four would be “ramped up.” Whether he meant the movie or not is currently unclear.
