Severe thunderstorms south of Beatrice
BEATRICE – A line of severe thunderstorms across southeastern Nebraska Wednesday evening was accompanied by a tornado warning for Gage County.
The Gage County Emergency Manager reported the sighting of a funnel cloud about five miles west of Blue Springs at 6:48 p.m.
Emergency manager Lisa Wiegand says no touchdown was observed and no reports of significant damage were received. Rainfall amounts reported in the southern part of Gage County ranged from 60 hundredths of an inch to 1.6 inches.
Hailstones the size of tens to quarters were reported near Odell in the southwestern part of the county and in nearby Hanover in northeast Kansas. Hailstones the size of quarters were also reported in Barnes and Linn, Kansas, during Wednesday night’s storms.
Further south, a tornado was reported northeast of Olsburg, Kansas at around 7:25 p.m., dissipating after about five minutes.
