Doherty expected a rather “shorter” guest list for her funeral.
“I think there are a lot of people who would show up that I don’t want there,” she said. “I don’t want them there because their reasons for showing up aren’t necessarily the best. Like, they don’t really like me and, you know, they have their reasons and that’s fine, but they don’t really like me enough to come to my funeral.”
“(They’re going to show up) because it’s politically correct and they don’t want to look bad. So I want to take the pressure off them and I want my funeral to be like a love fest. I don’t want people to cry or to secretly say, ‘Thank God that bitch is dead now,'” Doherty added.
In another episode of Let us be clear in April, the Charmed A former student spoke about how she got rid of material possessions that did not bring her joy, in part to help her loved ones make the transition after her death.
“It feels like you’re giving up something that was very important and special to you,” she explained about clearing out a storage unit. “But you know it’s the right thing to do and that it will give you a sense of peace and calm because you’re helping the people you’re leaving behind have a cleaner, easier transition.”

As a result, Doherty, who collected antique furniture, also reflected on her thoughts about which items she should get rid of.
“I don’t enjoy it and others don’t enjoy it, and do I really need it? Do I need three dining tables?” she asked herself. “The answer is no, none of us really need all the stuff we have and we could all do with a little slimming down to avoid becoming a hoarder, which is what I did with all my furniture.”
She then said that in her final years, she focused on creating memories with friends and family rather than material things.
“I don’t need that, it doesn’t really give me much joy, but what gives me great joy is taking my mother to the places she’s always wanted to see,” she said, adding: “I get to build other memories – I get to build memories with the people I love. I’m not dipping into the money that’s in my estate that makes sure everyone in my life is taken care of.”
