Karnataka has approved the construction of a Rs 500 crore skydeck in Bangalore, among other development projects.
The Karnataka government has approved the construction of South Asia’s highest skydeck in Bengaluru, which will offer 360-degree views of the city. This is one of a series of infrastructure projects aimed at improving the city’s infrastructure and tourism appeal.

What are the details of the Bengaluru Skydeck project?
The estimated cost of building the Skydeck is ₹500 Crore and it would be 250 meters high. For comparison: The Qutub Minar is 73 meters high.
The building will be located on NICE Road on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The project also plans to connect to the metro system to ensure easier accessibility.

The NICE Road site was agreed upon by all, including the opposition leaders and the Aviation Ministry (due to the height of the Skydeck), after about 10 sites were considered, including the Bengaluru University campus. This proposal was later scrapped due to concerns about the impact on students.
What other projects in Bengaluru have been approved by the Karnataka government?
In addition, an underground tunnel will be constructed from Hebbal to Silk Board Junction. The estimated cost is ₹12,690 crore to ease traffic congestion on one of Bengaluru’s busiest corridors.

In addition, 52 new Indira canteens and 592 new Anganwadis (day care centres) will be opened in Bengaluru. The Anganwadis are expected to cost ₹50 Crores.
