Balcony collapse at UP school: 40 children injured, five in critical condition after collapse on first floor
On Friday, part of the balcony on the first floor of a school in Uttar Pradesh collapsed. According to police reports, at least 40 children were injured, five of them are in serious condition. The affected students are being treated at the district hospital. Barabanki Police Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Singh said that the condition of the five seriously injured students was serious.
According to a PTI report, Singh said the incident took place at Awadh Academy School, a private educational institution, when a large number of children gathered on the first floor balcony while going downstairs to attend the morning assembly.

The 40 injured children were initially taken to the Jahangirabad Primary Health Centre, about 300 metres from the school. After receiving first aid, they were referred to the district hospital for further treatment, according to the police. Many of the pupils were rescued from the rubble of the collapsed balcony. The children are being treated in the hospital for injuries to their faces, necks, hands and legs.
