The latest GTA Online update has removed content from the game

GTA Online removes 23 series and modes

In another example of such a move, the game lost nearly two dozen missions as part of its last weekly update, which rolled out on Thursday, August 22. The new patch removed four GTAOnline Adversary modes and 19 series are being removed from the hit live service game. The first group includes the Assault on Cayo Perico, Bunker, Casino and Missile Base adversary modes. Rockstar hinted at these removals on August 15 when it said it plans to begin rotating select modes and race series starting next week.

However, the company did not share the extent of these rotations, the first of which turned out to be a major net loss for the game. Specifically, while the August 22 update removed 23 missions, it added just one new one, the Assault on ATT-16 adversary mode. Rockstar cited a desire to improve matchmaking as one of the reasons for this newly introduced mission rotation practice. The company said that to make room for new missions, the game needed to make room for new missions. GTAOnline Content also contributed to the decision to begin rotating modes and series.


It is currently unclear when the newly removed missions might return to the game. Judging by the social media reaction to this move, most fans who cared enough to voice their opinions online are not exactly thrilled about the removals. The most cynical of these opinions go so far as to speculate that Rockstar might plan to return the withdrawn missions GTAOnline missions as exclusive GTA+ members. However, the developer and publisher have so far given no indication that this is the plan.


This content rotation took place about 14 months after GTAOnline lost a quarter of its vehicles as part of the San Andreas Mercenaries update. In May 2024, Rockstar also removed in-game emails from GTAOnlinewhich was another fairly unpopular move among fans. As for the only new addition to the game introduced with the August 22nd update, Assault on ATT-16 is a fairly content-rich Adversary Mode that pits two teams of players against each other across five different levels on land, sea, and in the air.
