SALISBURY – The Salisbury girls tennis team defeated West Davidson 8-1 on Wednesday to open Central Carolina Conference play.
Lucy Barr, Meredith Williams, Lola Koontz, Anna Kate Goodman and Gabriella Fatovic collected individual victories for the Hornets (3-0, 1-0).
Barr/Williams, Goodman/Koontz and Addison Griffith/Fatovic were winning doubles teams.
Deanna Loftis won for the Green Dragons in singles No. 3.

GRANITE QUARRY – Carson won its first game of the season on Wednesday with a 5-4 South Piedmont Conference victory over East Rowan.
It couldn’t have been closer.
Allie Martin of Carson won the No. 1 singles match against Jaylen Jones 6-4, 6-3.
No. 3 seed Sophie Lipe and No. 4 seed Caylee Sheets also won singles matches for the Cougars.
Mady Morris, Mackenzie Carrico and Ava Quick won for East with 2, 5 and 6, so that the score was tied 3:3 after the singles.
Martin/Maggie Cooper won the No. 1 doubles.
Carrico/Ava Qucik won for the Mustangs in doubles No. 3.
The decisive game was a 9:8 victory by Lipe/Sheets in doubles No. 2.

MOUNT ULLA – West Rowan picked up a 6-0 win over Robinson in the South Piedmont Conference on Wednesday.
The Falcons (2-1) earned individual victories from Autumn Yount, Emma Crider, Lucy Moore, Olyvia Brown, Ally Suggs and Laney Moore.
