According to several reports, former Chelsea, Tottenham and Paris St. Germain coach Mauricio Pochettino has agreed to take over the USMNT
The Columbus Crew and New York City FC reached the quarterfinals of the Leagues Cup with dramatic victories in the round of 16 on Tuesday evening.
The Crew earned a thrilling 3-2 win over 2023 Leagues Cup winners Inter Miami. Diego Rossi scored twice in the second half as Columbus overcame a two-goal deficit to take the win and secure another home game in the Leagues Cup knockout rounds.
New York City FC, meanwhile, eliminated one of Liga MX’s top clubs, Tigres, to advance to the quarterfinals. NYCFC also claimed its victory, responding to Tigres’ opening goal just three minutes later with a Maximiliano Moralez strike. In the second half, Santiago Rodriguez sealed the win in the 65th minute. This is the second year in a row that Tigres – the 2020 Concacaf Champions League winners – have been eliminated from the Leagues Cup in the round of 16.
In Major League Soccer, both the Crew and NYCFC are in the top five of the Eastern Conference as both teams aim for the playoffs after the end of their Leagues Cup appearances.
The winner of the quarter-final between Columbus Crew and New York City FC will face the winner of the match between Philadelphia Union and Mazatlán in the semi-finals.
