Franklin High School student dies after medical emergency
BALTIMORE – A Franklin High School student died Wednesday due to a medical emergency, according to the Baltimore County Public Schools communications director.
“It is with deep sadness that I share the death of a student at Franklin High School. The student experienced a medical emergency this morning and was transported to the hospital where he later passed away. We are devastated by this news,” Kieran J. O’Connell, principal of Franklin High School, said Wednesday. “We extend our deepest condolences to the student’s family and loved ones.”
The Baltimore County Fire Department received a call around 9:18 a.m. Wednesday morning about a student experiencing a medical emergency on the Franklin High School football field. Upon arrival, firefighters found the child in critical condition while CPR efforts were underway. CPR efforts were continued by emergency responders and the child was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he later died.
Members of the Baltimore County Public Schools Traumatic Loss Team will be at Franklin High School on Thursday to provide support and counseling to students and staff struggling with the loss of the unidentified student.
