NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – The South Carolina Stingrays, ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, announced that the club has signed defenseman Charlie Combs through the 2024-25 season. Combs, 28, joins the Stingrays after playing the past three seasons in Europe.
Combs played in the Elite Ice Hockey League during the 2021–22 and 2023–24 seasons, recording 96 points (46 goals, 50 assists) in 84 career games for the Dundee Stars and Glasgow Clan.
In the 2022/23 season, Combs played in Denmark’s top ice hockey league and scored 39 points (20 goals, 19 assists) in 45 games.
Before turning pro, Combs played three years of college hockey at Bemidji State University and a fourth year at Michigan State University. Immediately following his senior year at Michigan State in 2021, Combs signed with the Wichita Thunder and played 17 ECHL games.
