Bachelorette Jenn Tran’s Taylor Swift Songs of the Week Analysis
Jenn Tran has found comfort in Taylor Swift in the middle of their season of The Bachelorette.
Ahead of the season 21 premiere in July, Jenn, 26, shared that she would pair each episode of the ABC series with a song from Swift’s discography.
“So I decided that every week I would dedicate the episode and the week to a Taylor Swift song based on what happened in the episode and how it made me feel,” Jenn explained at the time via Instagram.
Jenn stayed true to her promise and kicked off the soundtrack to her Bachelorette journey with “Sparks Fly (Taylor’s Version)” from Swift’s 2023 re-release of Speak Now.
Bachelor Nation met Jenn as she vied for the affections of Joey Graziadei while The Bachelor Season 28, which aired earlier this year. Although she didn’t find the right one in Joey, she became the main actress of The Bachelorette during the After the last rose Episode in March.
Scroll down to see which Swift songs Jenn identifies with each week:
Week 1: “Sparks Fly (Taylor’s Version)”
The song selection spoke for itself, as Jenn met 25 applicants on the first night in the Bachelor villa. Jenn made several contacts over the course of the episode, but only kissed the candidate Sam McKinneywhich she told exclusively We weekly was “wild”.
Week 2: “Karma”
The episode revolved around the drama between the participants Aaron Erb And Devin Straderwhich began after the leader pulled Jenn aside for some alone time – and ice cream – during their group date in Australia.
The track from Swift’s midnight The album may have alluded to the ongoing feud between Aaron and Devin, with the two stealing each other’s alone time with Jenn throughout the episode. Despite the tension, Jenn presented both men with a rose. (After the episode aired, Us recommended Swift’s “Exile” as Jenn’s song of the week because we’ve seen that movie before.)
Week 3: “State of Grace (Taylor’s Version)”
Jenn revealed in an Instagram upload that the song is from Swift’s Red (Taylor’s Version) was “one of the best” Easter eggs she laid. It seems fitting that Jenn would choose a song that describes her hope of finding love as she began to build deeper connections with her suitors. While Jenn had a successful one-on-one date with the contestant Spencer Conleyit was Sam Nejad also known as the “Love Virgin,” who announced that he had “already fallen in love with her.”
Week 4: “Jump Then Fall (Taylor’s Version)”
The song selection from 2021 Fearless (Taylor’s Version) had an obvious meaning, as Jenn’s first one-on-one of the week with Sam M. consisted of bungee jumping off a building. After struggling to work up the courage to jump, Jenn finally took the leap into the unknown thanks to some encouragement from Sam M., which earned him a rose.
Week 5: “The Archer”
The song from 2019 lover explores Swift’s deepest fears that someone might not be there for her. “Who could ever leave me, darling? / But who could stay?” Swift sings.
As a result, Jenn was unsettled when Austin Ott sends himself home. “Will the next one walk out the door too? Maybe I’m not enough for Marcus. Maybe I’m not enough for Sam M. Maybe I’m not enough for Devin,” Jenn asked herself in a confessional.
Jenn also noted that an honorable mention for Swift’s song of the week was Red’s “We Are Never Getting Back Together (Taylor’s Version).” Jenn’s song choice seems to relate to her decision to leave Ex Matt Rossi home after trying (and failing) to win her back.
Week 6: “Clean”
The track from Swift’s 2014 album 1989 discusses themes related to leaving a difficult relationship behind. “There was no trace of you / I think I’m finally clean,” Swift sings.
Before the hometowns, Jenn sent frontrunner Sam M. home after she left the group date feeling unsatisfied about her relationship. “I know what I’m worth and what I deserve, and I know what I want,” Jenn said in a confessional prayer. “What I want is not Sam. I’ve been there, done that, and I’m not going to do it again. I’m done.”
Week 7: “Crazy”
After meeting the family members of her final four, Jenn shared that “Hometowns was crazy in the best sense.” The song selection from 2009 Hannah Montana: The Movie Details on how to start falling in love in a relationship. “It feels like I’m falling and I / I’m losing myself in your eyes / You make me crazier, crazier, crazier,” Swift sings.
Before the rose ceremony, Jenn told the host Jesse Palmer that she is “definitely in love with all four of these men and that is why tonight is so hard for her.” Jenn ultimately sent Jeremy Simon home.
