FAR developer announces new adventure game “Herdling”
Okomtive and Panic have announced their new title, HerdlingThe former is known for the FAR Games. During the ascent, players will face an alpine expedition with beasts full of obstacles.
You will have to lead and protect your flock of Calicorns and your herding skills will need to be proficient in environmental puzzles. In addition, the game will be wordless, which adds atmosphere and confidence to the game.
Co-founders Don Schmocker and Goran Saric said:
“With Herdling we wanted to start a new kind of adventure, not only for the players, but also for us. Creating the herd of animals and their mountainous world was an ambitious challenge for us and we enjoyed every step of this journey.”
Fabio Baumgartner, game designer, programmer and sound designer, said:
“The idea of moving as part of a herd of large, lovable and mystical creatures was at the heart of our design process and we can’t wait to see players immerse themselves in the experience we’ve created.”
Nick Suttner, Panic’s Director of Publishing, said:
“We consider the FAR games to be atmospheric, moving masterpieces and we couldn’t be happier to be working with Okomotive on their brand new adventure.
Herdling feels like a return to the scale and fidelity of something like Firewatch for us, so it’s really exciting to have it in our lineup. We’re huge fans of games like Inside and The Last Guardian – sweeping solo adventures that really convey a sense of awe, solitude and a special kind of camaraderie. It feels a bit like a lost art in current gaming culture, so we were all in on what Okomotive is doing with Herdling.”
Herdling will be released in 2025 for PC via Steam and unspecified consoles.
