Crime in New Mexico’s restaurants
We already know that New Mexico has had some horrific crimes, but we’ve also seen some crazy crimes at fast food restaurants… Of all the places to commit a crime, these should be the LAST places anyone would want to cause trouble. But alas, it has happened, some even happened as recently as 2024…
The Sonic Shooting in New Mexico
On July 25, 2024, a 20-year-old Sonic Drive-In employee was shot in the head and was on the ground in critical condition. A 31-year-old man, Mariano Romero, was arrested on suspicion of shooting the employee and threatening a witness.
A Roswell man REALLY wanted a milkshake at Arby’s
Tommy Smith was arrested in June 2024 after threatening to beat up Arby’s employees over a milkshake. Tommy refused to pay, the police were called, and he was charged with attempted robbery, disorderly conduct, and creating a public nuisance.
That wasn’t the only time Roswell was in the news…
A former New Mexico police officer robbed a local subway station
Valerie Palombi, 24, and an accomplice were arrested for robbing a Subway restaurant in June 2016. She was later convicted of her crimes and found guilty in 2019.
A man from Albuquerque caused unrest in various fast food restaurants
37-year-old Frank Madrid robbed several restaurants in ABQ, including a Dunkin Donuts, a Taco Bell, and even a Conoco gas station, before he was finally arrested.
And of course, we must not forget those crimes that were committed at various McDonald’s restaurants in New Mexico.
Examples include: Tim Roberts, who was beaten by an unnamed attacker at McDonald’s in June 2024, Anthony Hernandez, who broke the glass at McDonald’s in 2019, and Ruben Martinez, who was arrested around Christmas 2023 for punching two McDonald’s employees in the face.
And of course there has to be murder, like what happened at that McDonald’s in Gallup, New Mexico…
Of course, New Mexico isn’t the only state where people like to cause trouble at McDonald’s; Texas has also seen several people committing crimes.
