Man Utd removes player from website as decision on his future made

Manchester United have removed Sofyan Amrabat from the official club website, indicating uncertainty about the midfielder’s future at the club.

The Moroccan international, who spent last season on loan at Old Trafford from Fiorentina, was removed from the website on Wednesday evening, 46 days after his loan contract expired.

Amrabat was signed on a season-long loan in the final minutes of last summer’s transfer window, with United paying Fiorentina a loan fee of €10 million ($11 million) with an option to buy the 27-year-old midfielder for €25 million ($27.5 million).

However, due to limited options throughout the season, United decided not to activate the purchase clause.

Amrabat’s future is uncertain

Despite the removal of Amrabat’s profile from the club’s website, a possible return to Manchester United is not completely ruled out.

The club are still looking for a midfielder before the transfer window closes and Amrabat remains a possible option. United’s interest in Manuel Ugarte has cooled due to Paris Saint-Germain’s high valuation, making Amrabat a more feasible target.

Amrabat ended his loan spell on a high note, starting the last three Premier League games against Arsenal, Newcastle and Brighton. He also played a key role in United’s FA Cup final victory over Manchester City and delivered a standout performance at Wembley.

Currently, Amrabat has returned to Fiorentina for pre-season training, despite initially postponing his return. He has also removed all mentions of Manchester United from his Instagram bio, further fuelling speculation about his next move.

United coach Erik ten Hag, who had previously worked with Amrabat at FC Utrecht, was instrumental in bringing him to Old Trafford despite some reservations from the club’s management.

With the transfer deadline approaching, Manchester United’s decision on Amrabat’s future is expected soon as the club continues to review its options in midfield.
